Our City - Shanghai World Financial Center

My mom traveled back to Shanghai on our return to spend some time with the grandchildren and our family. So this past Saturday we visited the Shanghai World Financial Center (SWFC) building. For those of you that are not familiar with the SWFC, it is the tallest building (at the present) in the world from two aspects - 1. Highest Viewing Platform and 2. Highest Roof. The artist rendering above shows the SWFC. This is the building with the square hole in the top of the structure. The other tall building next to it is the Jin Mau Tower and it is the 6th or 7th tallest building in the world. If you wish to learn more about the SWFC... click on...http://www.swfc-shanghai.com/ The view from the top of the building is spectacular. Most of the pictures you see in this blog were taken from the 100th floor. This level is the upper side of the square.
Because the area below the floor is open, the designers made the 100th level with a glass floor. This provides a very unique perspective and it is not easy for those that are scared of heights as it does make you a bit weak in the knees. The viewing platform does provide you with one of the best views of Shanghai and this past Saturday was a rather clear day so we took the opportunity to visit. (I think the view of Sabrina is better though... ;). The picture below is taken out one side of the building and to put this image in perspective...each of the little boxes all neatly aligned is a 5 or 6 story apartment complex.

Until next time...enjoy of the view of "Our City"....
